About Us

Aloha,

My name is Sean Lunasco and I have been diving for fun/hobby on Oahu's North Shore in Hawaii since the early 90's. Just like you I enjoy the sport and look forward to the challenge of under water hunting.

The 3-prong Pole Spear for many years has not changed to much and has remained relatively plain looking compared to the spear gun and other dive equipment & accessories which has grown/evolved greatly from an esthetic, technical & innovative stand points. Of course the 3-prong Pole Spear yet simple in design and an extremely effective/good all-around dive weapon as is maybe doesn't really need any changing but I believe there is always room for innovation for many products to make them better in my opinion.

Depends on who you talk to but to me the graphite Pole Spear for shear speed can not be beat. If you often shoot Menpachi, Hole Hole, Manini, Kole, Kumu or other small to medium size game fish then the graphite Pole Spear is the best choice. The aluminum Pole Spear is a little slower than the graphite but has more pinning power so it just depends on what you most likely will be shooting while diving. The Fiberglass Pole Spear is to heavy but a great choice for big game in the hole or night diving.

My reasoning for making my own Hawaii Style 3-Prong Pole Spear is primarily based on 2 things; speed & esthetics. I have been using a 6'/7'/8' graphite 3/8" spears with stock .162-11" prongs for many years and felt that the downsides to this Pole Spear was; 1. The Pole Spear could be a little faster especially for shooting Menpachi and 2. Black color may possibly scare fish not to mention it looks rather boring.

Despite mentioning the boring black color in the previous paragraph, we decided to make a "Plain Black" Pole Spear as well so as to give divers a more affordable option in the market place. The Plain Black Pole Spear requires less time to produce thus the lower price.

So in conclusion this is why I decided to make my own design Custom Colored Light Weight Hawaiian Style 3-Prong Pole Spear. It's lighter which directly translates to being faster, the vibrant colors/patterns maybe more conducive to attracting fish/game rather than scaring them away* and many other reasons.

*Does not apply to Plain Black Pole Spears
